IDLE WORDS
Text: Matthew 12: 36, 37 Psalm 139: 4
But I say unto you, That every idle word
that men shall speak, they shall give
account
thereof in the day of judgment. For by
thy
words thou shalt be justified, and by thy
words
thou shalt be condemned (KJV)
Body
This is a very important thing Christians have to know and put to
good practice.
So many say, "It doesn't matter what I say", others say,
"It’s just a joke".
we must need to know that Jesus knows our heart and all our thought
all the time. And God takes into notice every single thing we say.
What are Idle words
In Greek, Idle words means argos meaning Inactive
Idle words are
1. Vain words
2. Impertinent words
3. Words without good purpose
4. Foolish talking (Jesting)
Etc.
As children of God, We are not expected to talk anyhow. The Bible
encourages us that our moderation should be made known.
Many time we say things that are not relevant or things that
doesn't add values to the life of people.
Some go as far as insulting other in the name of joke (You fool,
Idiot etc.).
Other deceive their friends as joke (e.g. April fool, white lies).
These are not godly for believer who should be watchful to engage in Gossiping
is not to be of Christian character.
One thing of come to notice is that these idle words are so
outspoken in the midst of multitudes of words. We must have to watch things
that we say because in the multitude of words lacketh no sin.
These idle words are forbidden. The Bible clearly says "we must account..." for these idle words.
This shows that there will go against defaulters as evidence.
Solution to not speaking Idle Words
1. Bridle your tongue. The book of James says that he who can
bridle his mouth is capable of bridling the whole body. We must have to
discipline ourselves from unprofitable talks
2. Stop talking a lot for in multitudes of talk, wanting no sin
3. You have to pray for God to guard your heart
